Continue ShoppingRunning is Heather Goodrich's passion. She has completed multiple marathons, half marathons, 10ks and 5ks. However, three years ago she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS), an unpredictable, often disabling disease of the central nervous system that disrupts the flow of information with the brain, and between the brain and body. Heather's MS left her with a severe drop foot in her left foot, so severe she was unable to lift it off the ground without the aid of an electronic brace.
Refusing to let MS rob her of her dreams or steal her passion of marathon running, Heather turned to Jeff Galloway's 30/30 plan and SparkleSkirts.
"These skirts are crucial to me," said Heather. "The electronic brace system is very sensitive. I couldn’t pull this off if I didn’t have a skirt with pockets that allow me to make sure it's secure and doesn’t bounce around. SparkleSkirts' two 5x5" side pockets and 12" zippered waistband pocket that can be worn front or back allow the brace component to breath, but stay dry.
"If the electronic brace or its components get wet in any way, it's gone," said Heather.
"God forbid I’m at 7.8 miles and if something goes wrong, I need replacement parts for the brace," said Heather. She keeps extra components safely stored in a plastic bag where she can easily access them.
"Without that, I couldn’t run; these races it would be impossible," said Heather.
Heather has hard days, but she refuses to give up. Nearly every one of Heather's photos show triumph and determination. She's an overcomer and an inspiration to the SparkleCommunity!
